Matt Chandler is a creative leader with over 20 years’ experience, currently working at Clemenger BBDO.
Prior to BBDO, Matt spent 11 years at DDB Sydney, rising from Senior Copywriter to Creative Director, Executive Creative Director and ultimately Chief Creative Officer. Matt specialises in finding and developing new creative talent, encouraging them to discover and refine their creative voices, resulting in a diverse, award-winning body of work from the departments he has built and nurtured.
As CCO, Matt guided DDB Sydney through a highly successful period, navigating constant and significant change while delivering both major creative accolades and sustained new business growth. Post-DDB, Matt is now helping lead the integration of DDB and Clemenger in the first six months of the newly merged Clemenger BBDO.
During Matt’s tenure as DDB’s CCO, the agency won more than 13 new clients, including TK Maxx, Lilydale, Steggles, DoorDash, Credit24, Brisbane Broncos, Novo Nordisk and Ingenia, before securing the Stan creative account in Clemenger BBDO’s first major pitch.
The agency also delivered one of its strongest creative performances, winning three Cannes Lions and being named Cannes Regional Network Agency of the Year. DDB was also awarded Network Agency of the Year at AWARD and Campaign Brief’s Australian Agency of the Year 2025, alongside further recognition at Spikes, Effies and the Webbys.
Earlier, in his role as ECD, DDB Sydney was named AWARD Agency of the Year within 18 months of Matt’s appointment in 2022, also winning Gold at Cannes and a Grand Prix at Spikes Asia.
Prior to DDB, Matt worked at leading agencies in Sydney and London, including Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT in London, and M&C Saatchi and Droga5 in Sydney. His work has been recognised at major international shows including Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, Spikes, New York Festivals, LIA Awards, AWARD, AdStars, Facebook Awards, AdNews Awards, B&T Awards, Ciclope, Creative Circle and Campaign.
